Working with Your PTA

There are many benefits of networking and supporting your local elementary schools PTA organizations. Working effectively with your local PTA’s allows you opportunities that you may not normally have, public school marketing, fundraising, access to events, and of course mass intro promotions and lead generations.

Do Your Research

PTA and PTO members within both public and private schools can be a martial arts studio’s best allies. Make a list of all of your marketable public and private schools in your area. At the beginning of each school year you need to create or update a spread sheet that contains the new PTA/PTO President’s, Vice President’s, and Treasurer’s contact info. Some schools may have more positions than others with varying responsibilities and goals.  If many of the schools are under the same school board, go to the school board website; find a list of the schools with their individual websites. Along with the contact information a PTO/PTA calendar can often be found on the elementary website. Note all relavent events such as meetings, festivals, charity walks, etc.

Make Contact:

Rather through email, phone or through a meeting explain who you are and these three areas:

We want to be part of the PTA/PTO’s fundraising:

First explain that Premier Martial Arts would like to be a part of fundraising for the PTA organization. For years Premier has worked with the local public and private Knoxville school’s PTA for fundraising through fall festivals, health fairs, game nights, field days, walk-a-thons, talent shows and donations for auctions. First you would like to know what kind of fundraising will be taking place for the PTA this year and how you can be a productive partner in making these events a success. Let them know that you have mascots, giveaways, demo teams, structured games and activities to help with those events.

Letter to be emailed, mailed or discussed in personal meeting with the PTA

Hello,

My name is Myles Baker and I am the owner of Premier Martial Arts Maryville and a member of the Premier Kidz Foundation.

Premier Martial Arts would like to be a part of fundraising for your PTA organization. For years Premier has worked with the local public and private Knoxville school PTAs for fundraising through fall festivals, health fairs, game nights, and donations for auctions. First I would like to ask what kind of fundraising will be taking place for your PTA this year and how can we be a productive partner in making these events a success?

Secondly, Premier Martial Arts is backed by a non-profit organization, Premier Kidz Foundation. Premier Kidz Foundation was developed to help Premier Martial Arts studios give back to their community’s youth by conducting free community events that are educational in these areas; Karate for Concentration, Bully Proof, and Kids Safe. Below are links for each one of these presentations that have been presented within schools and martial arts studios across the country. In the past some PTAs will promote these events and will charge a small fee or collect donations for the PTA. 100% of the funds go to the PTA and each one of the kids will receive a FREE Karate uniform and certificate on behalf of Premier Kidz Foundation!

Bully Proof- http://premierkidzfoundation.com/bullyproof.html

I would love to have the opportunity to speak with you about doing one of these seminars for your school this fall and since Premier Martial Arts is backed by a non-profit organization we will be able to give the proceeds to your PTA organization!

The third way we have raised funds for the local PTA is through Parent’s Night Out events at Premier Martial Arts facilities or at the school’s gym where the children come from 6-10:30pm on a Friday or Saturday night. During this event the PMA staff will play games and martial arts inspired games, conduct a marital arts lesson structured around goal setting and character development, have a pizza party, watch a movie and raffle for prizes along with our mascots.

Please contact me to schedule a time to discuss these various ways to raise funds and educate our community’s youth through these awesome events.

Empowering lives through martial arts,

Myles Baker

Premier Kidz Foundation presenters from Premier Martial Arts Maryville will be presenting “Karate for Concentration” at John Sevier Elementary on September 19th, 25th and 26th.

Premier KIDZ Foundation is a non-profit organization whose sole purpose is to improve the safety and education of today’s children to insure their success. Premier KIDZ Foundation was founded in 2007 by one of the world largest chains of martial arts studios, Premier Martial Arts. Each Premier Martial Arts studio along with many of our corporate partners has pledged to donate a percentage of their time, money, and spirit, toward protecting their community’s children. Premier Martial Arts and our corporate partners understand the need to give back to their communities by protecting, educating, supporting, and developing our world’s future leaders………our children.

PKF provides the training and support for our team of nationally certified speakers on educational programs for children including Kid Safe, our anti-abduction program, Bully Proof, ABC of Success, goal setting for children, KID FIT, children’s fitness program, and Kid Defense, self-defense workshops for children. These programs are taught by our certified speakers in public/private schools, day cares, after school programs, churches, and for other children’s organizations across America, Canada, and England.

The ABC’s of Success is a great interactive workshop that teaches character development, builds confidence, and develops a plan for goal setting for children. The ABC’s of Success workshop instructs students on topics such as, the importance of education, the ability to focus and concentrate, how our relationships define our success, the belief in one’s self, and proper decision making.

This power workshop guides the children through a series of real life analogies that not only makes learning the information fun, but brings the information to the children in a manner that connects with them on a personal and emotional level, thus increasing the children’s ability to retain this information and use it immediately in their day to day lives.

Information for those wanting to continue with Premier Kidz Foundation Community Event workshops will be sent home in the children’s Friday folders on the 20th and 27th.

Working with PTA/PTO takes a lot of persistence and focus. Use your appointment calendar to put all of the organization’s events in to keep up on events that are happening in the middle and end of the year. Also towards the end of the school year PTA/PTO may be behind their goal and more willing to get creative with fundraising and outside organizations.
